About Ed Antkowiak, L.Ac. - Acupuncture, Bodywork, and Professional Education in Seattle, WA

About Ed Antkowiak, M.Ac., L.Ac.

Ed Antkowiak has been studying and practicing Acupuncture and Asian Medicine since 1982.  He has graduated from two different acupuncture schools; The Kototama Institute (Japanese Medicine), and The Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NIAOM - Chinese Medicine), where he obtained a Masters Degree in Acupuncture.

Ed has taught at several of the acupuncture schools in the Seattle area.  He was Vice President of the National Sports Acupuncture Association.  Ed has trained in martial arts for over 25 years and is a former instructor for the Powerful Choices/Model Mugging programs, with whom he taught women’s self-defense and empowerment programs in Seattle and around the country.  Ed has practiced acupuncture in numerous places around the country, and has experience treating a very wide array of conditions.  He has worked extensively with digestive conditions, allergies, and chronic illnesses such as Hepatitis, HIV, and fibromyalgia.  One of his primary specialties is in working with injuries, old or new, and resulting pain.

In his practice, he uses many different modalities, with a particular emphasis on acupuncture, moxabustion, and both Chinese and Japanese medical bodywork.  Ed also focuses on client education, out of a belief that if clients understand how this medicine can help them, they will be more able to participate in their own healing process.  For patients uncomfortable with needles or whose conditions do not require acupuncture, Ed often does treatments without needles, usually focusing on bodywork and Moxabustion.

One of his specialties is in working with athletes and dancers, treating training injuries including sprains, strains, post-surgical recovery, and chronic overuse injuries.  He has also worked with athletes in optimizing performance and preparing for events.  Ed’s expertise in sports medicine translates into other injuries and painful conditions including Auto accidents, chronic overuse injuries such as Tendonitis and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and recovery from surgery.

One of Ed’s other specialties is in working with women’s health conditions including menstrual disorders, fertility issues, eating disorders, fibromyalgia and CFS, and menopausal symptoms.
